On September 26, 2024, the exciting lecture by our SIIRI spokesperson Prof. Meike Stiesch took place at the phaeno Science Theater as part of the lecture series “Groundbreaking: State-of-the-Art Diagnostic and Therapeutic Methods in Medicine.”

Her lecture “Healthy Teeth – Healthy Body” highlighted the impact that bacterial biofilms in the oral cavity have not only on dental health but also on general health. Prof. Stiesch explained how methods such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence help better understand these biofilms and detect changes early. Additionally, she presented innovative, personalized preventive and therapeutic strategies that promote both oral health and overall health. Particularly fascinating was the discussion of how these scientific findings are being integrated into the development of modern implant systems, thus contributing to improved patient care.

The lecture series, jointly organized by the Braunschweig Scientific Society (BWG) and the Lower Saxony Academy of Sciences in Göttingen (NAWG), provided participants with the opportunity to learn from renowned experts who are working at the highest level in research and patient care.
