From February 6th to 10th, the Medical University of Hannover (MHH) opened its doors as part of the Health Weeks at the aufhof, the former Galeria Kaufhof building located at the Marktkirche. On February 6th, SIIRI introduced itself to the interested audience in Hannover’s Old Town.

The visitors had to choose from a variety of informative lectures, including presentations by SIIRI scientists from MHH: Prof. Dr. Thomas Lenarz, Director of the ENT Clinic, on the topic “Good hearing at any age – thanks to state-of-the-art technology”; Dr. Katharina Nikutta, Clinic for Dental Prosthetics and Biomedical Materials Science, on “The path to antibacterial implants”; and PD Dr. Philippe Korn, Clinic for Oral, Maxillofacial, and Facial Surgery, who reported on “Functionalized implants in oral, maxillofacial, and facial surgery.” Simultaneously, exhibits from our laboratories provided exciting insights into our research on future-proof implants.

SIIRI was also present on February 9th. This time, the focus of the lectures was on the findings of the communication scientists of our interdisciplinary research consortium. The scientists from the University of Music, Theater, and Media Hannover, Prof. Dr. Christoph Klimmt and Charlotte Schrimpff, both from the Institute for Journalism and Communication Research, as well as SIIRI Managing Director Dr. Claudia Davenport, reported on “Implants of the future – from today’s challenges to tomorrow’s ‘Smart Implant’.”

We would like to thank the many enthusiastic visitors, to whom we could share our latest findings and innovations from research on future-proof implants up close.
