On February 9, 2023, Regional President Steffen Krach visited the Lower Saxony Center for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research, and Development (NIFE) for the first time to gain an in-depth overview of the latest advancements and innovative technologies in implant research.
During the two-hour event, Mr. Krach was provided with valuable insights into the interdisciplinary work of the research consortia based at NIFE, including SIIRI. The presented projects encompassed both clinical applications and fundamental research approaches, all of which aim to develop the next generation of implants. Particular emphasis was placed on the close collaboration between disciplines—spanning medicine, natural sciences, and engineering—which facilitates the translation of research results from initial concepts to practical applications in industry.
A key highlight of the visit was the lab tour, where Mr. Krach had the opportunity to directly engage with the innovative technologies and research efforts being conducted on-site. He was notably impressed by the progress achieved through interdisciplinary cooperation.
