Kick-off event of the Digital Implant Innovation Forum at NIFE a resounding success!
On June 21, 2023, the first Digital Implant Innovation Forum on the topic of “Sensors for Medicine and Implants of Tomorrow” took place at the Lower Saxony Center for Biomedical Engineering (NIFE). The event provided a platform for discussions in medical technology and was supported by several SIIRI PIs.
After a welcome address by Presidents Prof. Michael Manns (MHH) and Prof. Volker Epping (LUH), the first session on “Digitization in Implant Development” began, moderated by Prof. Henning Windhagen. Dr. Sarvestani opened the session with an overview lecture on sensor technology, robotics, and AI as key technologies. Prof. Alexander Heisterkamp, project leader of subproject B03, spoke about implant safety, and Dr. Jakubowitz, project leader of subproject A03, explained the integration of sensors in exo-prosthetics.
In the afternoon session, M. Sc. Max Eggers, a doctoral student in subproject A01, presented on the digital twin in the implant lifecycle, discussing the opportunities and challenges of this technology.
The event offered valuable insights into the current advancements in digitization and sensor technology, highlighting how these technologies contribute to the development of individualized, safe, and future solutions for patients.
