On November 28, 2024, the 4th symposium of the established Digital Implant Innovation Forum series took place, featuring a wide range of topics. The focus was on model systems, advanced imaging, data science, and medical device testing.
Participants gained exciting insights from top-tier experts from both industry and academia. A special highlight was the presentation of the innovative technology platform “Human-on-a-Chip,” which provides preclinical insights at a system biological level with unprecedented precision.
Additionally, Dr. Carina Mikolai (Project B01) presented a 3D Implant-Tissue-Oral-Bacterial-Biofilm model specifically developed to study peri-implantitis. This model allows for the analysis of infections on implants as well as the exploration of preventive and therapeutic strategies.
The event also provided a platform for discussions on other forward-looking topics such as energy harvesting for medical implants, imaging and regeneration of organoids, and the seven steps to MDR compliance. These diverse discussions enriched the perspectives of both science and industry.
We look forward to the next event in this series, scheduled for the summer of 2025.
