The third Digital Implant Innovation Forum on January 30, 2024, at NIFE focused on the latest developments in tissue engineering, with an emphasis on (additive) manufacturing, (digital) monitoring, and immunological compatibility. The event provided a platform for the exchange between researchers and industry representatives to discuss innovative approaches for the production, control, and biocompatible integration of tissue implants.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Hoffmann, SIIRI project leader in A02, spoke about immunological challenges in the development of bioactive materials made from electrospun synthetic fibers. Other highlights included lectures on artificial stem cell niches (Prof. Dr. Cornelia Lee-Thedieck), the combination of Melt Electrowriting with additive manufacturing (Prof. Dr. Michael Gelinski), and bioelectric energy harvesting (Dr. Gerd Teepe).
The event fostered interdisciplinary exchange and strengthened collaboration between research and industry. A panel discussion on tissues and ATMPs, along with welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. Michael Manns, President of MHH, concluded the symposium.
